Hotel Estero y Mar, located at the far end of Playa El Pimental, not too far from El Salvador´s international airport.
This is not just a hotel by the beach… it’s a full family destination with pools, nature, animals, and unforgettable experiences — perfect for traveling with kids.
🌴 A Green Oasis Right on the Coast
One of the first things that surprised us is how refreshing this place feels as soon as you enter.
Usually, a beach day means:
☀️ intense heat
😅 very little shade
🏖️ hot sand everywhere
But Hotel Estero y Mar feels completely different.
The hotel is full of tropical plants, large trees, and shaded garden spaces, creating a cool and peaceful atmosphere — like stepping into a green paradise next to the ocean.
It’s especially comfortable for families with little ones who need breaks from the sun.
🏖️ Clean Beach Access Just Steps Away
Another huge plus: the beach is right next to the hotel.
No long walks carrying towels, toys, bags, and kids (parents know the struggle 🙃).
The beach is private and there isn´t another hotel or restaurant right next to it so it didn’t feel crowded. The beach was open, clean, and easy to enjoy — perfect for a relaxed family day.
🍽️ Beachfront Restaurant With Great Kid Options
The restaurant is also located directly in front of the ocean, so you can enjoy beautiful beach views while you eat.
The food was excellent, and we loved that there there were plenty of options that work well for children — always a bonus when traveling as a family. The staff were very accommodating. When we asked what time breakfast started the next morning they even took our order that night to have it ready the next day when they opened. Perfect for our early rising kids!
Eating with the sound of the waves in the background added to the ambiance.
💦 Four Pools for All Ages
Hotel Estero y Mar has four different pools.
Some pools are reserved for guests with room reservations, and others are open for people coming for the day pass option.
Most pools include shallow kid-friendly areas and deeper sections for adults. Many have waterfall features which are fun too.
🐒 Mini Zoo and Farm (A Huge Hit With Kids)
One of the most unique features of this hotel is that it has a mini zoo and little farm right on-site.
Kids can see animals like:
- monkeys
- turtles
- an alligator
- parrots
- mini pigs
- peacocks
- bunnies
- and even a deer
This made the experience feel like so much more than a beach hotel — it’s an adventure for kids.
🐢 Baby Sea Turtle Release (approx. October–December)
If you visit during fall or early winter, you may be able to experience something truly magical:
✨ releasing baby sea turtles into the ocean ✨
Being able to see and hold these tiny creatures was a special moment. We paid $1 per turtle and they said all the money goes back into local efforts towards sea turtle conservation. I would absolutely do this again, such a unique experience!
Watching them crawl toward the sea was very special. Our kids said it was a turtle race and we cheered on each one as it made its way to the waves.
🚤 Mangrove Boat Rides Next to the Hotel
Another highly recommended activity is the boat ride through the nearby mangroves.
You go through the winding roots while seeing:
🕊️ beautiful birds
🎣 local fishermen (who will gladly show you their catch of the day!)
🌿 unique coastal ecosystems
It’s calm, scenic, and a wonderful way to experience nature in El Salvador. It is an additional cost, but I would reccomend it.
