🌧️Rainy Day Play Areas Near San Salvador

Published: June 2025

Indoor fun for little ones when the weather isn’t cooperating.

Rainy days don’t have to mean screen time all day — The San Salvador metro area actually has some great indoor play spots where kids can move, explore, and have fun without getting soaked. If you’re trying to keep little ones entertained on a wet weekend, here are some favorite rainy day play areas in the city, especially for babies, toddlers, and preschoolers.

🎬 Cinépolis Kids Cine – Multiplaza Mall

This hidden gem inside the Multiplaza Mall offers a cozy movie theater experience designed just for kids. With bean bags, play areas, and kid-friendly films, it’s the perfect rainy day activity that still feels like a special outing. Arrive a bit before the movie showing and the kids can play on the slide and in the ball pit area! Half way through the movie there is a short intermission to get out the wiggles and play some more!

It’s way less intense than a regular theater, for the kids, and parents. There is much less pressure to try to keep your kid completely quiet for an hour and a half! When purchasing the tickets make sure to get the Sala Junior.

  • 📍 Location: Multiplaza, San Salvador
  • 👶 Best for: Toddlers and up

🧪 Tin Marín Children’s Museum – San Salvador

No rainy day list would be complete without Tin Marín. This beloved children’s museum is packed with interactive exhibits that let kids play firefighter, explore science, pretend to grocery shop, and a lot more. They frequently have special exhibits, currently there is a dinosaur invasion. It’s a space where learning feels like an adventure, perfect for both curious toddlers and older kids with big imaginations.

  • 📍 Location: Final Calle La Reforma, San Salvador
  • 👶 Best for: Ages 2–10

🤸  Jumpers – Calle La Mascota

Jumpers is a bright and colorful indoor inflatable play center where little ones can climb, bounce, and explore safely. With ball pits, slides, inflatables, and a toddler-friendly zone, it’s a great option for active kids who need to burn energy on a rainy day. The space is clean, well-organized, and just the right size for parents to relax while keeping an eye on the fun. Be aware that you may need to contact them to reserve your space, and to check for open hours.

🧸 Kilua’s Playroom – Centro Comercial Soho Cascadas

Tucked inside Las Cascadas Mall, Kilua’s Playroom is a sweet and clean space perfect for babies, toddlers, and young preschoolers. It is like a mini children’s museum including: a doll house, market, construction zone, hospital, diner and soft play area. Parents can relax at the café at the entrance while little ones explore at their own pace. They do charge $0.25 a minute or $19.99 for “all you can play”.

  • 📍 Location: Centro Comercial Soho Cascadas, Antiguo Cuscatlán
  • 👶 Best for: Babies to age 7

🌈 Dreamland  – Santa Elena

I initially assumed Dreamland might not be ideal for younger children since it’s primarily known as an arcade, but it actually offers several great features for little ones. There’s a dedicated play zone with a generously sized ball pit and slide, as well as a small trampoline area. One fun surprise: a slide built right next to one of the main staircases—because why walk when you can slide? Younger kids also love the smaller carousel-style mechanical rides scattered throughout. Best of all, everything is indoors, so there’s no need to worry about rainy days!

  • 👶 Best for: Ages 2–6

🛝 Playmax – Presidente Plaza

Playmax is one of the larger indoor play centers in San Salvador, and while some areas cater more to big kids, it also has designated spaces for younger ones, including soft play structures and toddler-friendly slides. If you have kids of different ages, this is a solid option where everyone can burn off some rainy-day energy.

  • 📍 Location: Presidente Plaza, San Salvador
  • 👶 Best for: Ages 2–8

📚 BINAES – Centro Historico

The new National Library of El Salvador (BINAES) is more than just books — it’s an incredible public space for families, and it’s completely free. The kids’ floor features bright, playful reading areas, interactive digital screens, and cozy corners for quiet time. There are multiple zones for different age groups, including a soft play zone for toddlers. An ideal rainy day escape that combines fun and learning.

  • 📍 Location: Historic Center, San Salvador
  • 👶 Best for: All ages, especially under 6

Tips: Don’t forget to pack or wear socks! Lots of indoor spaces require them to play!

Always check each location’s Instagram or send them a WhatsApp before heading out — sometimes hours change and it’s always good to double check and avoid any meltdowns if you get timings wrong.

Have you been to any of these spaces? Do you have any special tips for other parents hoping to visit? Let us know in the comments!
