Free Scavenger Hunt for Kids!

One of our favorite family friendly spots near San Salvador to spend family time is the Botanical Garden in Antiguo Cuscatlán.

What is El Jardín Botánico Plan de La Laguna?

El Jardín Botánico Plan de La Laguna is a botanical garden growing right inside a volcanic crater—how cool is that?! It’s home to over 3,500 species of plants, from towering trees with massive roots to delicate orchids and ferns. You’ll also spot turtles, fish, iguanas, birds, butterflies, and (if you’re lucky) a curious agouti or two. The shady paths and natural surroundings make it feel like you’re deep in the jungle—without the long drive.

There is a nice children’s play area as well. The entry fee is cheap and you can also get a bag of fish food for just .60 cents at the entrance. Feeding the animals is my kids favorite part and they will often forgo the playground to spend more time watching the animals.

Make your visit extra exciting with our FREE printable scavenger hunt! Designed just for kids, this activity turns your walk into a jungle-themed adventure. There are two versions—one for younger explorers (ages 3–6) with pictures, and one for older kids (ages 7–12) with a bit more challenge.

Let your kids become Junior Jungle Explorers while learning and having fun!
