Planning a family trip to San Salvador and not sure where to stay with kids?
You’re in the right place.

As a local mom exploring the city with my own children — and through feedback from traveling families in the El Salvador Kids Guide community — I’ve learned which hotels truly make traveling with kids easier… and which ones don’t.
In this guide, you’ll find:
- What to expect from hotels in San Salvador with children
- How to choose the best area for families
- The best family-friendly hotels by budget
Why Trust These Recommendations?
Every hotel listed here meets at least one of these:
- Visited personally with kids
- Recommended repeatedly by local families
- Chosen often by traveling families with good experiences
Our goal isn’t to list every hotel in the city — only the ones that actually work for families.
Is San Salvador a Good City to Visit With Kids?

Yes — especially for short stays at the beginning or end of a trip.
San Salvador offers:
- Modern shopping centers with play areas
- Museums and parks
- Easy access to day trips (volcano, lakes, beaches)
- The country’s best hospitals and services, which gives many parents peace of mind
Most families stay 1–3 nights here before exploring the rest of El Salvador.

Near the Airport
Useful mostly for very early or late flights. There isn’t a lot to do nearby.
If this is the case you can check out these options:

Quality Hotel Real Aeropuerto – Ariport shuttle available during the day, looks like an extra charge during the night/early morning. Confirm with the hotel!

Pato Canales Hotel & Resort – Has a swimming pool and playground area
Hotel La Estancia – Early breakfast available, shuttle to airport about $6
Hotel Maria Ofelia – More basic for short term stay, no hot water!
